On Catullus

I love and I hate
And I do not know why
Or I do pretend so
Whispers reach my ears
Telling me of an odd question
Being asked:
“Why do you love me?”
What is love?
And I am tempted to step in
And answer my wrong answer
To their question
I am tempted to say
“I love you because
Of nothings
Of a whole world of nothings
Those nothings I cannot live without
Smiles,
Laughs,
Silences,
First and foremost
Absences
Ephemeral touches
Especially those that do not last
And give you an
Impression of your world collapsing when
They finish
You know you have
To say I love you
When nothings invade your silent moments
When missing nothings tell you
That nothings are missing
Love is about living
Certain nothings together
And how this paves your days.
And you smile to the day ahead.”
